ABOUT ISEDEP PROJECT





1.      What is the ISEDEP Project?
ISEDEP means – ICT Skills and Entreprise Development Programme
ISEDEP is a community based ICT skills development and business mentorship programme designed to give self- employable skills to youths in the Zongos and Deprived Communities nationwide. An entrepreneurial skills training programme, purposely designed to provide a combination of the study of IT with business modules to enable the youths exploit their technical innovations commercially.

Community Based -means the training will take effect/place in the aforementioned Communities (i.e. Zongos and Deprived Communities nationwide) in a Community built ICT Centre of Excellence


2. PURPOSE OF PROJECT                                                                                                                    
What the project seeks to do is to practicalize the business aspect of ICT education to create jobs and encourage life-long learning. (Entrepreneurs of Technology)
                                  
3.      BUILDING OF ICT CENTRE ( Community ICT Centre Of Excellence)
As part of the project, the foundation in partnership with other stakeholders will launch and furnish sixty (60) state-of the art ICT facility (ICT Center of Excellence) in the various Districts, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies, nationwide in every five (5) years. (Refer to the above picture).



HOW IT WORKS
Here, the various assemblies or recognised groups/individuals will put up the building and furnish it for the community. Then we (SKI Africa) will equip the Centre with ICT tools and equipment. (Computers, projectors, all ICT teaching and learning materials, employ instructors and facilitators for the training and take charge of other training cost) if we are able to secure government  partnership support.

4.      PROGRAMS FOR THE PROJECT
Certificate in Technopreneurship
It is a combination of the study of IT with business modules.  The programme courses are made up of two parts; the core and the specializations.

Students considered for admission will undertake the following courses in the Certificate in Technopreneurship Programme.

The course gives a strong foundation to students on various concepts related to business development and global technology insights. The students get hands-on training as they create projects based on the course they learn on. Recognizing the wide range of technologies, students have a choice to choose their specialization.

5.      MMDA’S For YEAR 2018
The Foundation has made provision for the furnishing of 10/12 ICT Centres of Excellence for the Year 2018. In the subsequent years, 10/12 MMDA’s will benefit from the programme every year nationwide.   

6.      ADMISSIONS PER YEAR      
There will be PIT in every MMDA to serve as the recruitment sources.
There will be three (3) class sessions each day in each centre. The morning, afternoon and weekend session. Each session will hold one hundred and fifty (150) students. At the end of every 6 months, each centre will admit and graduate about 450 students. Multiply by 2= 900 students each year.
               
7.      OUR EMPLOYMENT GENERATION AVENUES

a.      Due to the expansion of the project every year, the foundation will employ some of its graduates to fill up existing and potential vacancies as instructors and facilitators. About 120 people will be directly to serve as facilitators and instructors.
                                                    
b.      Apprenticeship Scheme with Corporate Firms- 2,000

c.       Set up Apprenticeship and Skills Development Training Centres - Every District

d.      Establishment of Business Centres – for 6,000 to 8,000 people


Salient Features / Highlights of the Programme
Alhassan is taking part in the ISEDEP programme. In the next six (6) months, he will read 25 books and 30 articles on ICT, attend 636 hours of tutorials, gain over 400 hours of hands on industry training, write 10 essays of 2500 words and write a total of 18 hours of exams. In addition, Kojo will acquire;

§  Business/entrepreneurial skills knowledge (over 1,000 hours of classroom instruction on this topic over the course of a full class)
§  Professional writing/grammar skills:
§  Written and oral presentation skills and writing of a complete business plan presented in a tank shark format.
§  Accounting, investments and business creation and management ideas to run and own businesses for employment generation and poverty alleviation.
§  The flexible combination of the local and English Language as medium of communication for the training and state of the art training facility will make learning easier and fun.
§  A boost in ICT skills development for socio-economic empowerment and transformation.
§  Personality development programmes to regenerate the mind and boost self-confidence.
§  Training provided by Industry Professionals.
§  Well-designed syllabus to meet the latest demands/changes in the information technology field.
§  Practical Classes on live projects to expose students to real time challenges.
§  Participation in career related seminars from time to time.
§  Well- designed syllabus to meet the latest demands/changes in the technology industry.


The school will run five days in a week in a community owned ICT Centre of Excellence. This one-storey ultra -modern ICT equipped building will be built through philanthropic donations. About sixty (60) Districts, Municipal and Metropolitan will benefit from the initiative over a period of ten (10) years.
Each centre will house
§  Six (6) lecture halls,
§  Ten (10) practical labs,
§  Two (2) staff offices
§  One (1) conference Hall
§  One (1) library and Research Centre.
§  A reception, store room and washrooms.
