f. Youth Leadership Skills Development Programme (YOLSDEP)
The Leaders Talk Programme is a professional development programme designed with young leaders in mind. The program helps young leaders think critically for themselves about who they are as individuals and what issues they care about as leaders in the world.
Our objective is to produce more inspired, motivated and aware leaders who are now even more confident to pursue their personal and national service goals. The mission of this programme is to enlighten, encourage and empower youths by providing leadership training that will promote and enhance the quality of life for themselves, their communities and our world. Our work is based on the notion that young people have the capacity to become leaders in their chosen field of endeavor if given the exposure to concepts of leadership and the opportunity to demonstrate their skills through positive social action. Our Training Methods

Professionals, including academics and technical specialists, play critical role in the development and implementation of the foundation’s programmes. Noteworthy, professionals played central role in the development of the project curriculum, teaching / learning materials and implementation strategies as well as in monitoring and evaluating the entire project. This cooperation helps to strengthen the capacity of the foundation in the implementation of its programmes.

In order to effectively equip learners with sustainable practical technical skills, the training of learners under the programme will be done primarily through the use of participatory methods (i.e. action-based). All learners will be placed under the mentorship of instructors by three major approaches: ‘learning by doing, learning by producing and learning by earning’. Learning by producing and earning is central to the training of youths because most of them have been exposed to earning money at an early age having lived (and continuing to live) in dire conditions, including being homeless or heading households. This also explains most youth’s preference for training in trades that take a short period to complete. The programme instructors will also use the formal instructional method in lesson delivery. Formal instruction – including seminars, group discussions/debates and lectures – is primarily employed to facilitate the integration of other social programmes into the course.

All our courses are Computer-Based Training (CBT) and are delivered through classroom instructor led, video based, interactive methods and hands on training. We will use whiteboard and PowerPoint Presentations using overhead projector for most of the training programmes. Additionally, we will use Video portions that explain sections of the training topic or that present case studies for discussion. At the heart of the curriculum is a business plan, crafted individually by each student and presented in a shark tank format to business financiers.

Interactive Methods
There are many ways that we use to break up training sessions and keep trainees attentive and involved, some of these include:
Quizzes
For long training hours, we stop periodically to administer brief quizzes on information presented to that point. We also begin sessions with a pre-quiz and let participants know there will also be a follow-up quiz. Trainees will stay engaged in order to improve their pre-quiz scores on the final quiz. These will further motivate participants by offering awards to the highest scorers or the most improved scores. We also use small group discussions, case studies and Q & A sessions.
 Demonstrations
Whenever possible, we bring tools or equipment that are part of the training topic and demonstrate the steps being taught or the processes being adopted.

Hands-On Training
Cross-training: On this method, we allow trainees to experience other skills, which not only enhance trainee skills but also give us the benefit of knowing participants who can perform more than one job or has more than one skill.

Apprenticeship
Our apprenticeship scheme gives the opportunity to shape inexperienced fresh graduates to fit into existing and prospective jobs vacancies. We combine supervised apprenticeship training on the job with some partner corporate entities in a formal, structured collaboration that can last for three months. This provision will give young graduates of the programme the opportunity to learn the practical aspect of the trade or profession they have studied in the classroom and earn a modest income.

The Rationale behind our Programmes:
Due to the ever increasing poverty levels in our communities, not every household is able to afford tertiary or university education. Due to this phenomena, there have been dramatic increase in the levels of school dropouts at the basic, senior high and the tertiary level. It is in light of this predicament and other socio-economic problems faced by the majority of people from poverty stricken communities that this concept was born. An ICT based technical/vocational training education that offers a practical alternative to traditional degrees. A training that will engage disadvantage and deprived youths through a contextual learning and training, focused on building skills specific to an occupation or career field. Our programmes prepare students for future career successes by providing a blend of technical and conceptual training along-side hands- on –experience training in specific field.
